unable to see shared folders, XP guest, Ubuntu Workstation 6.5

Hello,

I have searched the discussions and I have not seen this exact problem. Please excuse me if this is a duplicate.

My XP.vmx file currently has the following configuration:

sharedFolder.maxNum = "1"

sharedFolder0.present = "TRUE"

sharedFolder0.enabled = "TRUE"

sharedFolder0.readAccess = "TRUE"

sharedFolder0.writeAccess = "TRUE"

sharedFolder0.hostPath = "/home/acurtis"

sharedFolder0.guestName = "Linux Home"

sharedFolder0.expiration = "never"

I suspect that the problem may be the guestName option but I am not sure. In any case, the shared folder does not appear in Windows Explorer.

TIA

-Allen

Have you installed the VMware Tools in the Guest?

Yes, the vmtools are installed. Everything else is working. The desktop can be resized by resizing the window, etc.

Are you running any VPN or other exotic networking software inside your Guest that might hook the Guest's network card?

I have used VNC to access the guest XP session but not vise versa.

Could it be a permissions problem? I would not think so since I started the VM with the same user that owns the shared folder.

Is it me or does it look like tech support is on vacation?
