static ip with dhcp server

Hi i have a virtual machine, and i wanna put a static ip in that network adapter (nat) how i put a static ip using or no using the dhcp server, i have workstation 7.0

Welcome to the forums!

Just configure the guest (Windows?) IP stack the way you like. Switch it from DHCP to a fixed IP. Of course, you must use a valid IP address from the VMnet8 IP subnet. You can see the subnet by looking at the VMnet8 adapter of the host or by looking into the Virtual Network Editor.

The gateway and DNS server must be the VMnet8 IP address of the host +1 (that's almost always 2).

Do you need help on how to do that in your guest? Then we need to know which OS do you use there.

thanks that was very helpfull, i remember in previous version you can set the ip manually in the virtual networks settings
