When I map a virtual disk without readonly mode, I can copy files from the disk. However, I can't delete files from the disk. It always says "Drive Z:\ not found". Is there another way of deleting files from virtual disks?
Note:I cannot access the desktop environment. I am trying to do the sethc trick in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002, as it won't let me log in.
I use Workstation 15.5.2 (as I currently cannot upgrade to Windows 10 2004).
I used my other XP VM to replace files and it works.
Please describe the way you "map a virtual disk". If you do it from the Workstation menu - File - Map virtual disks, you should have full read/write access to the disk.
I used the prompt from the Workstation interface and I still get the error.
Strange, it should work flawlessly. If you need this once to solve the specific problem you have, there are several third-party utilities to mount .vmdk disks (just google mount .vmdk). It seems Windows 10 has this facility built-in - right clicking on the .vmdk file in Explorer should present the option to Mount the disk with read-write access.
I used my other XP VM to replace files and it works.
