problem with disk activity usage

Hello ,

I'm facing trouble with running multiple VM guests on VMware workstation , the problem is that I have 4 VM guests that  I need to run at the same time , whenever I start to power up any of them, the disk activity is reaching to 100 present of the actual size as shown in the picture

I have allocated only 80 GB to each guest so I dont know why the disk activity is reaching to 100 percent of my hard drive (1TB) and that is making my laptop very slow

any advice on how to reduces the disk usage ?

thanks in advance

Hi,

How much total memory (ram) do you have on the Host pc?

How much memory (ram) is the host pc using?

How much Ram did you allocate on the virtula machines?

If the memory is in pain it could affect the HDD

Check which process is occupying the disk, and post the image of the "processes" tab.

I have 20 GB RAM

The host PC is using up to 4GB ram

I allocated 2 GB RAM to each VM so the total is 12GB

So your RAM usage looks OK, which probably rules out host OS swapping.

With only 2GB of memory allocated to your VM it might be that the guest OS is swapping, or it may just be natural disk activity within the guest OS - look at performance metrics inside the guest OS to get a view on that.
