player 6.0.3 part of menu headers are missing xfce desktop

i just installed the new release of player 6.0.3 on a newly installed linux mint 17 (64bit) with xfce desktop installation (as opposed to cinnamon) for the first time. the problem is that part (not all) the menu headers are missing from the player main window. the sub menus are there if i click on the spot where they should be and all works well after that. the virtual machine seems to work ok too, just the main window seems to have this issue.i don't recall having this issue on linux mint 16 with cinnamon desktop. see attachment.

does anyone know if this an issue with xfce or player?

I cannot tell you a fix but I can confirm that this is:

  1. Not limited to Player 6.0.3. It also affects Workstation 10.0.4 build-2249910
  2. It also affects Linux Mint 17.1 (64-bit) Cinnamon

Did you find a fix yet?

Thanks!

Mike

When 17.1 was released I installed Mate this time around. I also upgraded

VM player to 7.0.0. It seems to be ok now most of the time. Maybe it's a

problem with player 6.

good luck

I found the solution in the VMware Communities site in post https://communities.vmware.com/thread/414748. The issue is according to the post is that Workstation’s /usr/bin/vmware-xdg-detect-de detects GNOME but there are some packages missing. The solution is to install the extra packages (large) via:

apt-get install mint-meta-mate mint-meta-cinnamon

That might clear up your issues as well if any remain.

Cheers!
