ping b/w guest2 and guest3 that are copied from guest1 is not working

hi gurus

workstation 10

host windows 8.1

guest1 is windows 2008 r2

guest2 is a copy of guest1

guest3 is a copy of guest1

n/w adapter type NAT

already tried - disabling firewall + adding ip addresses in respective hosts files

below is working

ping from guest3 & guest2 to host

below are not working

trying to ping guest2 from guest3 & guest3 from guest2...

ping guest2/guest3 frm host

request timed out is encountered...

any insight into what changes need to be made to let two guests copied from the same guest to talk to each other and the host is immensely helpful

Have you made sure that the Computer Name and MAC Address of each are unique?

thanks for quick response....

mac name appears to be unique....didn't want to change hostname as all the apps installed also have to be changed...just tried to ping via ip address and thought it works...is changing the name of host mandatory?

If they are going to be on the same Subnet then yes!  Also replicating Server OSes by just copying them is not the proper way to do it!

thanks again!

hmm won't they be pingable just via ip address? any hacks to make it work without having to un-+re-install all apps to reflect new computer name?

(admittedly amateurish on server stuff! exploring the territory)
