The shutdown state can be reached by incorrectly configuring the virtual machine, a bug in the guest operating system, or a problem in VMware Workstation.---------------------------------------

This is the second time I have tried to install opensuse 13.2 through vmware workstation, first time it failed with GRUB2 installation, I fixed this by installing to MBR rather than root partition (it defaults to that for some reason) and now the second installation attempt brings me to the error outlined in the log file. Not sure what I should do, I have looked into the problem and a few people rectified similar issues by using virtualbox, but I would like to use workstation.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Could you provide workstation version ? Then we will have a try in our local environment.

Can other linux VMes boot up well on the same machine?

Thanks,

Susie

vmware workstation version: 11.1.0 build-249824

All of my other linux VM's boot fine and have no problems, I have mint 17, CentOS 7, and opensuse 12.3 running just fine. It's only 13.2 that I am having problems with.

Have  you verified the checksum on the installation media?

checksum is verified and matches.

Please enable full debugging (under VM->Settings->Options->Advanced) and try again.  After the triple fault, upload the resulting vmware.log file.
