only one proc working in 2 proc VM running vista premium

I created a vmware6.5 VM with 2 procs and 3GB memory, and installed vista premium (32bit) on it. It works fine except that uses only one processor. The task manager shows only one processor graph. I also installed a performance gadget and that does show 2 cpu's with one always idle (while the other one is at 100% a lot). I tried to select HAL in the configuration utility and reboot as mentioned in some other posts but that didn't help. Does anybody have any experience with this problem and found a way to fix it.

Here is the configuration I have:

HARDWARE: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, 8GB memory

HOST: Ubuntu 8.10 (64 bit)

VM: vmware6.5 VM, 2 procs, 3GB memory

GUEST: Windows Vista Premium (32 bit)

Thanks,

Maikel.

Adding following line to .vmx file, and try again:

cpuid.supportsMulticore = "TRUE"

cpuid.coresPerSocket = "2"

Thanks a lot. Now it shows both procs. However it seems that both procs are running at 100% when only one specific application is running. The application is slingplayer and the quality is kind of choppy (When I use it on my one slower proc laptop it works very smooth). Do you know why slingplayer needs so much cpu time? Can it have anything to do with the VM SVGA graphics adapter not being powerful enough?

Thanks,

Maikel.
