Jump to solution

Hi, i had installed Centos without gui, and install vmware-tools, and reinstall it, because i added shared folders in settings of my virtual machine but i don't see the shared folders in /mnt/hfgs/, which service i need to do it, or is anything else.

- Host : windows server 2012

- Virtual guest: (centos 8 without gui)

in virtual guest with Centos 8 and with gui, i can see shared folders.

I have found accessing host files via mnt/hgfs to be unreliable. Typically, it is there the first time I use it and then blank. So, I just use file sharing on the host. My host is Linux, so I installed samba server, limited access via IP address and I go from there.

Work around, not a fix, but it is what it is.

I am running WS 14, and my guess VM's are typically Debian oriented.

for any one else to have same problem i'm using Kernel 4.18, then the correct command to munt Sahred folders is:

/usr/bin/vmhgfs-fuse .host:/ /mnt/hgfs -o subtype=vmhgfs-fuse,allow_other
