nocona xeon processor 8GB memory

Hi,

I just bought used dual xeon(nocona) server. I would like it to run virtual machines. I installed SUSE 11 64-bit on it and was surprised that I cannot use 64-bit guests because processors don't have vt-techonology. Ok I can live with 32-bit BUT If I add 6GB to total 8GB can I have 32-bit guests to use all 8 GB or will they be only able to see 4GB? Host operating system is 64-bit.

Thanks beforehand for any answers

Best Regards

Kari Laine

They will be able to use all 8GB collectively ( 2 guests of 4GB each, approximately).

Or, if you have guest OS supporting more that 4GB (like W2K3 32-bit Ent), just one guest with 8GB.
