new to VMware, help with adding NIC

I am running VMWare workstation version 6. It is running on a laptop running Windows XP. The VM I have installed is also a Windows XP install. There are two physical NICs attached to my laptop. First is a built in, the 2nd is a pcmcia US Robotics ethernet card. The host OS of XP has no problem detecting the card when its inserted, but nothing happens in the VM install of XP. The VM detects the built in just fine. How do I get the VM to recognize the pcmcia ethernet card?

Look at the properties of the PCMCIA NIC. Verify that the "VMware Bridge Protocol" service is installed and enabled.

Run the Virtual Network Editor. Disable automatic bridging, then specify which physical NIC to bridge to the VMnet0 switch. Bridge the other one to one of the unused VMnet switches if you also want to use that one. If you want a guest to use the alternate NIC, change it's network mode from Bridged to Custom, and specify the appropriate VMnet switch.
