mksSandbox crashing with access violation

My workstation 16.2.2 on Windows 10 crashes when using the FreeCAD 3D modeler, the crash occured repeatably at some more complicated sketch. vmware.log contains

vmmcores and vmware-vmx.dmp were saved (won't post here as I don' know whether they might contain sensitive information). I have no paid support as this is just a hobbyist deployment but I will of course send them to any VMware staff investigating.

Disabling the 3D acceleration removes makes the error go away but of course slows down working with some applications to unusably slow.

The DLLs referenced point to an Intel driver so the problem might be also in that area and not at VMware. In that case maybe someone has already seen this and knows what might help. The host machine is an Intel NUC11, running 21H2 with Windows and Intel updates all current.
