lost networks after upgrade to windows 8

I have always fumbled through and made my VM work. I have multiple machines running onmy laptop. They need to be able to connect to each other as well as external.  I also us this in many locations.  So my setup was NAT on 192.168.137.x and I kept everything in sync with the hosts file.  I run both Win2003 and RHEL VMs.

Upgraded my laptop from windows 7 to windows 8. Removed workstation 9 and reinstalled it. Verified that NAT was still on 192.168.137.x

However no communications from the VM to anything.  No ping works. Nothing. Ipconfig is correct. Default gateway is set to the host. Still Destination Network Is Unreachable is what I see.

My next attempt will be remove the VMW devices and WS9 and try again. Anything else seem like I missed?

OK, got it fixed.  I needed to shut down my VMs, not just suspend them, then reinstalled VMW,
