Good time for all!
During the removal of the snapshot (due to lack of disk space) disappeared all snapshots that were available.
Dear experts, attention, the issue:
what to do, how to restore them...
Really need help..
in advance I thank all who responded!
Did you click the "Delete All " button in the snapshot manager, or were the snapshots removed a different way?
I was selected one (last) snapshot and pressed "Delete". During deleting process all snapshots where disappeared from Snapsh. manager window but not from HDD.
You can try this - VMware KB: VirtualCenter does not show snapshots when snapshots exist
oh.. I'm sorry, my mistake. I use the VMWare Workstation 9. And this KB for ESXi if I understood.
My bad, I did not pay attention to what area this was posted in.
Do you need these snapshots or can they be merged into the base disk?
Please attach the VM's latest vmware.log, its .vmx file as well as a list of all files in the VM's folder (e.g. the output of: dir *.* /one). Depending on whether you need the snapshots, it shouldn't be difficult to either clone the virtual disk (provided you do have sufficient free disk space!?) or to recreate the snapshot (.vmsd) file.
André
dear crawfordm, thank you for trying!!
Dear André! here is vmware.log, .vmx file and list of the guest OS (here is link for archive - http://files.mail.ru/EE2ACB98CFD44A56B1338BEF79687F70) or file in attach. If it's possible I would like to save all the data... but if no.... =((( I will be very sorry
Wow, this looks like you maintained a snapshot tree, i.e. not only a single snapshot chain. To find out how this snapshot tree looked like, it's necessary to know how the different .vmdk files are chained together. It would help a lot if you had a backup of the .vmsd file!?
Btw. what's the deal with the Win8 .vmdk and REDO files in the VM's folder. Are they used for one of the snapshots?
To be able to understand how the snapshots were chained, please download dsfok.zip from http://faq.sanbarrow.com/index.php?action=artikel&cat=47&id=111&artlang=en, extract the executables, run the below mentioned command in the VM's folder, then compress/zip all the "xxx-....bin" files and attach them to a reply post
for %i in (ad_XP_x32_SP3*.vmdk) do @dsfo.exe "%i" 0 1536 "xxx-%~ni.bin"
I can't promise you anything, but I will see whether I can recreate the .vmsd file.
André
André, unfortunately I have no any backups =(( coz I'm stupid user I just use VMWARE at the beginner level.
About Win8.vmdk it's ridicules but I don't remember for what I made it. I guess I've made mistakes and mixed up destination folders.
So..U r right... I've lost a snapshot tree.. it looks like picture in attach (snapsots.jpg). I made it from my other VM.
It's unfortunately not as easy as I thought, because it seems that at least snapshot 000010 is invalid (doesn't point to the correct parent). What I need to verify the correct chains and also to match the snapshots with the correct vmsn/vmem file, is some information from within these .vmsn files. The files contain binary as well as text data. The text data is actually the VM's configuration (.vmx) from the time when the snapshot was created.
Please search the .vmsn files for the .vmdk file that was attach to the VM (i.e. ide0:0.fileName = "ad_XP_x32_SP3???.vmdk"), and provide a list of the .vmsn file names with the .vmdk name in it.
André
André if I got right I have to give you next info

?
I'm afraid I have to give up. I tried a couple of things, even reproducing the snapshot tree, but what I'm struggling with is to match the .vmsn files with the snapshots. Sorry.
André
Oh.. I'm sorry too..
Well I want to say I am very grateful to you.
Thank you for all you’ve done! )
