Hello.

It is technically possible, but it is illegal by the terms of Apple licensing. It is also against the VMware community terms of service to discuss this matter here.

This is my .vmx file - but when i try to run Mac on my AMD PC (with AMD-V enabled) i get this message: "The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system. Power off or reset the virtual machine."

How can i make this work? Is it in the preferences at: "Edit virtual machine settings" ?

First of all, its not illegal if you own the software and have a license.

It falls under the fair use agreement.

Now is it physically possible to install on VMware? That I don't know, I have never done it.

EULA - is just an end-user license agreement that specifies how a particular software may be used.

It protects both parties.

In other words, Apple sells their software only to be used on their machines, correct?

Assume they don't have the verbiage in their EULA - you call them up and say, hey Lion-OSX won't install on this other machine etc, legally you won't have any legal rights or technical rights to any support and you waive all liability by buying their software, thus you will not have any support.

It's like buying an engine from a Toyota, and removing it and installing it in a Ford Expedition for better gas mileage. Would Toyota or Ford honor their warranty on their product because it's been modified?

Now VMware and Apple may have some sort of joint license agreement that they agree not to support it. That I don't know.

It's funny how Apple has boot-camp to run windows on their systems.

The legal requirements for virtualizing Mac OS X Lion it that it be done under a Mac OS X Lion physical install on Apple-branded hardware and since VMware Workstation doesn't run under Mac OS X you'd need to use VMware Fusion installed under Mac OS X Lion on Apple-branded hardware to comply with Apple's SLA.  VMware does not condone the illicit use of  Intellectual Property and why helping anyone to do anything illegal in these forums is prohibited by the VMware Community Term of Use.  So unless you're having a problem with virtualizing Mac OS X Lion under VMware Fusion installed on Apple-branded hardware then this effectively ends the discussion for any use case of Mac OS X other then what is allowed by Apples's SLA.
