Hi,
a long time ago I have been using the then-current version of VMware to run Windows NT4 in a virtual machine. In December 2000 I have a created an image of my virtual PC. Now I am looking for some private data, which I suspect may be contained in the file system of that virtual PC.
My image consists of 4 files on a CD: nt4.cfg, nt4.dsk,nt4.log, nt4.nvram.
The log file nt4.cfg contains the following information about the version of VMware, which has been used:
ProductID = VMware for Linux, ProductType = 2.0
All I want to do is read and copy some data of the file system of the Windows NT4 virtual machine contained in that image.
I have installed Workstation 6, but it does not seem to be possible to import the old image. I have browsed through the"Workstation User's Manual" and through the "Virtual Machine Mobility Planning Guide", but I have not been able to extract a useful how-to from these documents.
Any suggestions on how to solve my problem?
Have you tried to mount the *.dsk with vdk.exe ?
Not usre if it works - but if it does - it is the easiest way

Install VMWare 3.2.1-2242 or 2.0.3-799 then export your files via network.
Thanks for your hint.
But how can I obtain VMware 3.2.1-2242 or 2.0.3-799?
I have browsed through www.vmware.com without success.
