hi all
we got this shared desktop in the workplace that I am now trying to install workstation on. But we had already put vmware player on it previously and people are using it. Can we install workstation without the player?
Because right now i can't install the workstation without uninstalling the player first, and we got people using that player already.
Why does the workstation come with the player anyway?
thanks
davy
While it will uninstall VMware Player it will also reinstall it in the process of installing VMware Workstation so what really it the problem? It's not going to remove the existing Virtual Machines in the process. You'll still have VMware Player to use if you don't want to run VMware Workstation!
but will it also automatically register all the VMs? say user A has 2 VMs in his VMware player, if workstation goes ahead and uninstalls VMPlayer and puts it back, will userA, when he starts his VMWare Player, still see his two VMs? or will user A have to go back and re-add the vmx file into the new VMWare Player?
IIRC The VM's shown for each User will still be there, they shouldn't have to go find them.
