how to install vmware tools?

using vmware workstation 10 on windows 8.1 when i go to vm / install vmware tools i only get this  error message: could not find component on update server.contact vmware support or your system administrator and wxithout these tools vmware is lacking too much

please help;

VMware Tools should be  available in  WS 10.  It may be  easier to try and re-install WS 10 then getting the Tools onllline.

You can download VMware Tools manually from here: CDS Repository - /var/www/public/stage/session-19/cds/vmw-desktop/ws

Note: files are on .TAR format and you may need a software that support extract files from a .TAR file.

i downloaded the tar extracted it found 1 xml file and 1 exe file i lunch it gives me nothing anyhow thank you for your replay

Where do you run the .exe file ?

You must run the .exe file on the host and it will silently install the VMware Tools ISO Images in the working directory of VMware Workstation, for example at: C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation

After that, try install VMware Tools again on VM, just go to VM, right click and "Install VMware Tools..."
