help with a lost -flat.vmdk

Hi all

the situation is critic and the boss is with reason very angry:

we shutdown the VM fine, then restart the physical server, but when startup the VM we see that the -flat.vmdk is missing!!!!

all the files resides in a SAN volume  and only the most important file of the most important VM is lost !!

is there a specific tool to recover this kind of files, or this question is a general "recover files" question

regards

How about restoring from backup, or do you not backup your files!?  As far as recovering a deleted file is concerned this is not a VMware issue.  You'll have to Google for a program that can recover deleted files on the type of filesystem you had it stored on and from the OS you intend to run and access it from.

i expected that answer 😞  , but the hope is the last you must lost.

No....we dont have backup of the VM, only for the oracle inside, but OH! surprise, for a severe error we had the oracle backups INSIDE the VM also. Was a test instance but very important.

thanks anyway for the fast answer.
