client cannot ping server2003 but server can ping client(windows xp)

i run 2 windows on vmware, client cannot ping server2003 but server can ping client(windows xp)

server 2003

ip address : 192.168.1.1

default gateway: 255.255.255.0

dns server: 192.168.1.1

windows xp (client)

ip address : 192.168.1.2

default gateway: 255.255.255.0

dns server: 192.168.1.1

i can not disable firewall on server 2003 show me this message

Windows Firewall cannot run because another program or service is running that might use the network address translation component (Ipnat.sys)".

i would appreciate if you help me

Welcome to the Community,

to understand the issue, please provide some details about the network setup, i.e. whether you use Bridged, NAT or Host-Only networking, and whether the 192.168.1.1 IP address is unique in your network. Often this (.1) address is used for gateways/routers, so that might be an issue here. In case of NAT networking the .2 address is in use by VMware Workstation too.

i used vmnet0 (auto -bridging)and i changed ip address for server 2003 and windows XP

server 2003

ip address:10.1.1.2

subnet mask : 255.0.0.0

DNS server: 10.1.1.2

windows xp(client):

ip address:10.1.1.3

subnet mask : 255.0.0.0

DNS server: 10.1.1.2
