cdrom drive not working..:S

Hey all!

To begin with: I'm kinda new to the whole computer-thing. I have currently installed Windows 7 with VWware Workstation. For some reason the cd-rom drive isn't working. I read a previous post about the same problem, but it just doesn't work.

My config.sys looks like this:

device=c:\dos\setver.exe

device=c:\dos\himem.sys

dos=high

files=30

lastdrive=d

devicehigh=c:\cdrom\oakcdrom.sys /d:aokide01

My autoexec.bat is like this:

c:\dos\smartdrv.exe /x

@echo off

Prompt$g$p

path c:\dos

set temp=c:\dos

lh c:\dos\mscdex.exe /d:oakide01

lh c:\dos\smartdrv

I loaded the oakcdrom.sys as a floppy image.

I probably did a thousand things wrong, but could you please help me? I'd really appreciate that!

Welcome to the Community,

I posted an MS-DOS configuration some time ago at http://communities.vmware.com/message/1650677

I tried your configuration. Previously, he just didn't see the cd-rom drive, now he misses the himem.sys and the emm386.sys, plus he doens't accept any commands aymore, saying it cannot acces the drive.

So, I did a fresh install, but now I'm back to the start :S

Which MS-DOS version are you trying to run?

How did you configure the virtual machine? Please attach the vmx file.
