cant add second harddrive

Host OS: CentOS 7

Software: VMWare Workstation 15.5.2

Virtual Machine = CentOS 7
this machine has already a 60 GB HDD. I am trying to add another HDD its giving me error
"Cannot Read or Parse the partition table on the virtual Disk".
The error is of such type that I dont even know how to google it.

What is going on ??

I assmue that the error message comes form the guest OS.
What may need to be done is to partition/format the newly attached virtual disk. After attaching a new virtual disk, the guest will see a raw, unformatted piece of storage.

in the light of your answer I realized where I was making mistake. I added the HDD and without starting the system, formating it and partitioning it, I was mounting it and that is the reason it was failing. Your hint worked. I added the HDD, started the system and did as you said and it worked.
