can you upgrade workstation 8.0.6 directly to workstation 12

I have version 8.0.6 and upgraded to windows 10. Workstation loads and runs programs but the networking does not work so I can't map shares or transfer files in and out of the virtual machine.

I know I would have to buy version 12 (full copy) but can anyone confirm for me if the installation of workstation 12 will convert the virtual machines I have setup in workstation 8.0.6 ?

Thanks in advance to the help

Before going the upgrade route to Workstation 12 try a reinstall of Workstation 8. For reasons best known to Microsoft during the upgrade to Windows 10 third party features (e.g. VMware Bridge Protocol) are removed from the network interface. Reinstalling should reinstate it.

Good thought but after uninstalling and reinstalling it still can't see the network. I also configured the IP address manually and it still can't see the local network.

Thanks but I'm back to my original question.

‌Workstation maintains backward compatibility with older versions so your Workstation 8 VMs should work with Workstation 12.
