bridged VM IP question

I have a local net bihind my modem/router with IP-range 192.168.1.x/28 with windows xp and linux machines. One such linux machine has an IP 192.168.1.2 and a VM ("bridged", WinXP) in it with IP 192.168.1.9. Would that be correct or should that VM have an IP like 192.168.2.x ?

The VM IP of 192.168.1.9 is correct if you want it to be able to communicate with the other PC's on your local network.
