I have a vmdk file for a windows 8.1 machine on VMWare workstation of 54Gbyte on a windows 7 host.
I executed utility compact on the virtual machine but that didn't help to small the size of the vdmk file.
I think such a big file is not normal. I haven't used the virtual machine very much.I haven't installed program's
on the virtual machine.
I have also a virtual windows 8 machine in virtual box and that is 20Gbytes.
I forgot to say the only partition on the virtual machine is c: and it has a volume of 37 Gbyte.
Windows dir has a volume of 25 Gbyte.
The only programs I installed are treesize and windows firewall controll.
Thanks for coming to community. If we create a fresh Win8.1 VM, it won't take much space.
1. Could you login the guest and try to check which folders/files take so much space(maybe you can use treesize to check)?
2. Could you give use screenshot of all the files under the VM folder?
3. Please upload the files "vmware.log" and "<vmName>.vmdk"?
I've created a fresh windows 8 virtual machine: it has a size of 9Gbytes.
Thanks
Great!
