ethernet0.virtualDev = "vlance"
ethernet0.virtualDev = "vmxnet"
ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000"
ethernet0.virtualDev = "vmxnet3"
ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000e"
did anybody tried the new e1000E yet ?

good - easy points earned :smileycool:
The e1000e virtual nic should be available in ESXi 5 too, but there seems to be no GUI way to add it through vSphere Client and very little information regarding any differences as to the ordinary e1000 card.
yes - its new with virtual hardware version 8
there are a few more interesting new details of virtual hardware 8 - especially with regards to network cards - but unfortunately all of them undocumented yet

The E1000e is mentioned a on a slide in the official What's New vSphere 5 course, but unfortunately with very little other information..
"Virtual hardware version 8 supports the improved network driver for the E1000e network adapter, provided by VMware Tools."
At least we know it is improved.
