Hey,
I've at it all day and I still cant get it to work. Tried all sorts of combinations.
Can someone please just tell how to get NAT working so I'll be able to do it
from now on by myself.
Host: Windows XP
Guest: Windows 2003
NAT: Started
DHCP: Started
What I need to know is:
VMnet1 (NAT) on host: IP, Netmask, Gateway
Adapter on guest: IP, Netmask, Gateway
VMWare settings:

Please help. All I need is someone to explain it to me once.
Thanks.
You have played with settings, what was wrong with default values?
By default, NAT uses VMnet8 not VMnet1 (that is for host only network).
Please post "IPCONFIG /ALL" from host and guest, if you need help.
Also post .vmx file of your guest.
Do yourself a huge favor. Uninstall and reinstall the product. This will reset all the virtual network settings back to the factory defaults, and assign new random subnets for the 2 VMware NICs on the host. 99.9% of the time, the default settings will work right out of the box. Edit your VM settings, ethernet adapter, connection type... select NAT.
Also do yourself a big favor and read the user manual. Virtualization software is not a simple application where you don't really need the manual except for rare occasions. It is complex. I've been running Workstation for 4 years and I still need to refer to the manual a few times a month.
