Workstation doesn´t work with VIX - need command to shut down VM from external software

Hi everyone,

i use syncbackPro to back up my vmware vm. i used to use the command vmrun stop "D:\Virtual Machines\Windows10-DB\Windows10-DB.vmx" soft in the before beckup section to shut down the vm, then backup and after that start the vm using a line like this. Since Upgrading to Workstation Pro 15.5 VIX is not working any more. So i have to shut down manually and start manually. Does anyone have a good alternative?

Best regards

Jochen

Hi,

For normal VMs I would expect vmrun to still work.

There appears to be problems with shared VMs and the vmrun interface, is your VM perhaps a shared VM?

If it is a non shared VM then try inserting the "T ws" part in the command like:

vmrun -T ws stop "D:\Virtual Machines\Windows10-DB\Windows10-DB.vmx" soft

If that still doesn't work then try to run the command from outside the backup program in a command window and see if you get an error.
