Workstation deployment problems

We currently deploy computer labs with VMware Workstation baked into the image and have had problems since moving to version 16. After the deployment with MDT we can't create any VMs and get the error shown below. We have found out that if we run a repair of Workstation after the deployment it will start working so it is like sysprep or something else in the deployment process is breaking workstation. We haven't had any problems before version 16. Any ideas? We haven't found any way to do a repair via command either.

Not sure if it still works - we used that when Workstation was in its prime.

Doesn't seem to work, it still runs but doesn't resolve the problem.
