Workstation 9 Un-pausing from Pause causes loss of virtual machine OS display layout (e.g., in a Windows XP VM)

In Workstation 9, when un-pausing a virtual machine from a paused state, the position and size of previously displayed and organized windows is lost; this did not occur under Workstation 7.x, and it also does not occur when suspending and resuming (as opposed to pausing and unpausing).

For example, when I pause a Windows XP Pro SP3 VM, even with the latest VM Tools fully installed, subsequently un-pausing that VM to continue work causes displayed windows from various applications to resize and reposition themselves in unusable ways, so that I must manually rearrange all the open applications.  In my view, this is a bug which significantly hinders the pause and un-pause functionality of VMWare Workstation 9.x.  (I do not know if this was also an issue in Workstation 8.x, but I do know it was not in 7.x.)
