I've recently upgraged from Workstation 6 to Workstation 8 and I've run into a small problem.
After the WS upgrade I opened my original vm (Windows 2008 x86), and I was instantly prompted to upgrade my VMWare tools. Which I did.
After the Tools upgrade my vm seems to pause every few seconds (20 - 40). Then quickly catch up after pausing for a few seconds (5).
I can't seem to figure out why.
I've tried updating the video driver of the Guest OS as noted here: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/280773
I've tried updating my svga.vramSize to 32MB
I've also tried switch the video drive to SVGA II and setting hardware acceleration to max as noted here: http://ict-freak.nl/2010/12/27/slow-mouse-performance-on-windows-2008-r2-virtual-machine/
However I still seem to be having this pause then speed up issue, and I don't know what else to try.
Does anyone think they can help me?
Kindest Regards,
Justin
P.S. Here is a movie of my VM pausing twice, once around 12 seconds and again around 44 seconds.
