watch the forums ... usually VMware forgets to announce new Workstation versions

AFAIK there is no way to ask for this. VMware picks those folks that are regarded as "friends and family" themselves.

The only way to keep up with latest news is monitor this forum

They have a beta testing program.

I used to belong to this but when there are betas to test they happen when then happen, and

as a member you are expected to test when they need you to test, and that usually means

having a spare machine laying around that you can throw to the wolves.

It was so disruptive that I dropped out. It wasn't a good fit for me.

There are also NDAs to sign, and some of the provisions of the NDA are so overly broad that they slop over into other areas, even your already licensed VMware products. I found them too confining.

What would be the odds of getting a free upgrade to 7 if one buys 6.5 now? When I got 4.5 years ago, I got an upgrade to 5 which was in public beta at the time. Are we too early to say that would be the case now?
