Workstation 6 Beta expired: what next?

I purchased Workstation 5.5 in March of 2006. I use it to run a Windows 2000 guest under openSuSE 10.2 host.

I got into the Workstation 6 Beta program when it was first announced in December 2006.

As of yesterday the 6 beta will not start, saying that it has expired. I called tech support and they said I could download an eval copy of Workstation 6 from the web site, but I cannot find that. I have been poking around the web site and have not found anything that clearly indicates what I should do. I tried to re-register for the beta program and that did not work; it put me in an endless loop of filling out the registration form.

What do I need to do?

There are two expiration dates for the VMware Workstation 6 beta. One is the product expiration date and the other is the license key.

You may be running build version 36843 of the VMware Workstation 6 beta that has expired.

If so, you need to upgrade to the current version of VMware Workstation 6 beta software build 39849.

The license key does not expire until 5/29/07.

The serial number for the VMware Workstation 6 beta is made available to you after clicking the "yes" button on the License Acceptance (EULA) Page.

It will be the first line right after the Download Workstation Beta page heading.

Please try the following and let me know if this helps:

1. Click on the following url http://www.vmware.com/products/beta/ws// and select the Download Now button.

2. Complete the Registration screen and click Submit.

3. Click the Download Now button

4. Accept the EULA by clicking on "yes"

5. Copy down the serial number for the Workstation 6 Beta at the top of the screen.

This serial number is NOT emailed to you so it is recommended that you print this page for your records.

Thanks for your help. I downloaded the new beta build. I was not able to get the registration form to work correctly in Firefox; I had to run it in IE. You had best get someone to check that out and fix it as you will lose business by it. That is not a political or aesthetic statement but simply a pragmatic one.

Hi wilhoit,

What version of Firefox?

I also use Firefox since I am not a big fan of IE.

So far, I have not had any issues using Firefox with the registration or downland pages.
