Greetings -
I have been using workstation for years. Lately I was using 6.04 with no issues. However, I upgraded to 6.5 and now have a critical problem. Anytime I use a virtual machine that is on an external USB drive and I try to suspend the machine I get the following error (see attached). I'm using XP with service pack 2 and ALL patches (except for sp3). I have tried with two different USB drives and both give me the same exact problem. The VM's run beautifully but when you suspend - it tanks. When I use suspend with a VM on my local hard drive it works fine.
Anyone else seeing this?
Could you upload the vmware.log file it mentions?
We found the problem. We leverage a product that is configured to automatically encrypt all data transfered to a USB device. However, I'm in a GPO filter that has this feature disabled, but apparently there is a bug in the application that is still doing something that is causing this conflict. We are now working with the vendor to figure out what the heck is happening.
the joys of security....
