Workstation 6.5.2, require access to hosts partitons...?

Hello all.

Q:

What is the best way to present a local Hosts data to a VM in workstation?

I am running VMWare workstation 6.5.2 and I need my XP VM to have access to a local basic parittion on my host system.

If I add a hard disk and select "Physical disk" and then choose the desired partition (which is incidentally just a primary basic parition on the same disk as my host OS) then the disk adds successfully, but when I boot the VM I am greeted with an error and the partition isnt available to my vm?

I know this worked in the past before I reloaded my machine and the only difference I can recollect is that in the past I was using a dynamic Disk on the host whereas now I am using a basic.

You can't mount the partion from two systems at the same time, not without a cluster-aware file system.

Share the host partiion as a file share and mount it on the guest.

Yep - just did that and it works perfectly fine!

Settings > Options > File sharing... voila.

Thanks Mike.
