Before upgrading to v16.2.0 build-18760230 from v16 I could use Edit -> Paste, but not Crtl+V to paste into a Centos7 guest. Since upgrading to 16.2.0 I can't even do that. I've made sure that the guest is running open-vm-tools (x86_64 0:11.0.5-3.e17_9.3). It's a feature I use daily so it needs to work. How do I get it to work?
thnx, this helped!
Another work-a-round which might work for other as well.
My Env: ubuntu-22.04.02, wayland, gnome-42, VMware-WS-Pro 17.0.2, Win11-Guest
Copy from gnome-terminal to Win11 and visa-versa does not work (as described here). But, copy text from the terminal to a browser (here google-chrome, using a page which allows to enter text ... clip-board, deepl ...) and then copy from the browser to Win11-Guest did the job for me.
So, there seems to be a way to copy text from Linux-host to Win-guest, VMware just needs to implement it. Please!
hit same issue with vmware workstation player 17.0.0 with ubuntu 20.04
systemctl status vmtoolsd showed status as heathy. stop and start did not help.
restart of the vm resolved the issue.
