With 16.2 having problems that have been reported why is it still being offered as the default download for Linux?

What is with the "Workstation Beta" when upgrading individual VM's from 16.1 ?
Is it safe to upgrade the vm's? For now I have cancelled out of upgrading the VM's upon seeing "Workstation Beta."
