Workstation 15 Installation Win 10

Should Workstation 15 be installed directly onto the host machine c: or on a separate Solid state? What is the best route for performance. We are running a Point Of Sale on this.

We use to run Win7 machines and had VM on a separate drive.

It’s the VM location which matters, not the place you install the Workstation binaries.

Should I be running VM off of a separate HD and not off of the host?

The performance of the VM guest does not depend on its location, but on the type of disk used. So if the guest is on a solid state drive, instead of a "spinning rust" disk, the performance will be optimal. However, to preserve the health of the OS drive (which I understood is an SSD), it's better to minimize the amount of data written to it - so yes, I'd prefer having the guests on a different SSD.

Depending on your requirements, an internal HDD, or SSD should work well.
