Workstation 12.5 Performance very slow....

Dell Inspiron 5558 64bit chip w/ 64bit OS Win10Pro v10.0.14393

2TB HD [930GB free space]

16GB RAM (non-Dell)

Guest VMWare:

OS Win7Pro

2GB RAM (recommended)

137.1GB HD (2nd directory off the root of C)

    Defrag'd today

What are my options to improve performance and responses?  The VMWare image is very slow.  Seems to take about 5x longer than normal.  Outlook launch/Excel launch etc. and screen to screen Alt-tabs are slow.

Thoughts?

Are you running the VM's on high resolutions? I have an xps 15 laptop with 4k panel. When I run VM's on higher resolution they become laggy. Most noticable is running Ubuntu (with 1gb video ram) on 4k. Feels sluggish. Windows performs better, but I have to turn off all animations to do so. I hope VMware will up their game regarding hdpi screens and vm's.
