Workstation 11 Reports Crash (Access Violation 0xC0000005) On Start Up But Runs VMs With No Apparent Issues

A fresh install of Workstation 11 (11.1.0 build 2496824) on a fresh install of Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials crashes on start up (before starting/resuming any VMs) with a message box indicating a VMware Workstation unrecoverable error (vmui) has occurred and identifies the exception as 0XC0000005, an access violation).

If I click OK on the message box, Workstation closes.  If I don't click OK on the message box, I can still transfer the focus to the Workstation window and Workstation appears to behave normally (i.e. I can start/resume/suspend VMs and the VMs behave normally).

I've attached the log file.

Any thoughts on what is causing this?
