I am running Workstation 10 on a windows 7 64bit host. I use several VMs - some with Win8.1, some with Win7. The VMs reside on a 1TB SSD and on 4TB harddisks. Very often vmware-vmx.exe writes enormous amounts of data to the SSD and harddisks which leads to enormous traffic i.e. on the SSD and heats the PC so the fans start to cool down the PC very often - which is a bit noisy. Why does vmware-vmx.exe cause so much traffic? Can I tune the VMs so that this traffic can be lowered?
