Wireless bridge mode not working with Linux VMs
Host is running Windows 11 22H2 x64 build 22621.1194
Wireless adapter is Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX210 160MHz running driver 22.190.0.4
I've selected "restore defaults" in virtual network editor, unselected unnecessary adapters in "automatic bridging", specifically selected the wireless adapter and nothing works.
Interestingly enough, uninstalling VMWare Workstation 17.0.1 and reverting back to VMWare Workstation 17.0.0 fixes the issue. I've tested this multiple times. I checked the MD5 and SHA1 hash of the VMWare Workstation 17.0.1 installer file and it matches what is shown in the VMWare download portal.
Not sure if everybody is aware of this but this regression was finally fixed in VMware Workstation 17.5.0. I've been running it for a few days now and it appears to have fixed the wireless bridge issue for my hosted on Windows Linux VMs.
The Workstation 17.5.0 release notes here: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Workstation-Pro/17.5/rn/vmware-workstation-175-pro-release-notes/i... specifically indicate the below fix.
Wireless bridge connection might not work on a Windows host with DHCP configured
If you use Workstation 17.0.1 or above on a Windows host with DHCP mode configured, a wireless bridge connection might not work on the host operating system.
This issue is resolved.
@beseezy Please update your current Workstation Version 17.0.1 to the latest 17.5 by going to Help->Software updates->Check for updates. The issue should not be seen on the latest Workstation version 17.5
