Windows Host problem with alt gr keyboard

Hello

I have a problem with a german windows 8.1 host system it has guest windows XP system.

Keyboard on guest works well but,

On windows 8.1 host I can not use any alt gr keystroke

alt gr + q to write @ on german keyboard for example. I read a lot about people facing problems in the guest systems (esp. linux guests)

but my guest system works fine, there everything works.

I updated vm workstation to the latest version today but problem still exists.

Any ideas / hints?

Hallo friend,

I found a way (workaround) to use 'Alt Gr' by first pressing down the right 'Strg' ('Ctrl') -button and then pressing 'Alt Gr'.

1. Press and hold down the right 'Strg' ('Ctrl')

2. Press and hold down 'Alt Gr'

3. Release 'Strg' ('Ctrl') button

4. Press any button you wish to execute desired 'Alt Gr' + ...

My vSphere indicates that you have to use 'Strg' ('Ctrl') + 'Alt' to leave the console but it reacts on 'Alt Gr' also, so it is not possible to use it to execute commands....

Have a nice day!
