Windows 7 WDDM driver broken on Workstation 7.1

Suse 11.2 64 bit host

Workstation 7.1 64 bit

Windows 7 professional 32 bit

Upgrading to 7.1 to resolve display issues results in corrupt video display.

If I remove the WDDM driver and restart to load the SVGA II driver all is well.

This occurs even with 3D Acceleration disabled.

Is there a trick to getting a working WDDM driver in Workstation 7.1 ?

Did you upgrade the VMtools too in your guest to 8.4.2?

Keep in mind that the old WS 7.0.1 VMTool WDDM driver does not work well with WS 7.1. (I believe it's in the releasenotes.)

Could you give some more specs of the host configuration.

Like driver versions of the various hardware components.

I am assuming if you use an ATI VGA card you would be using ATI Linux version 9.11 for best performence.

Some progress.

Installed the proprietary ATI drivers Smiley Sad

Windows 7 now will operate in 3D and Aero theme runs.

However, every time I restart or shutdown my Desktop icon placement is rearranged.

Previous versins of Workstation have never had this problem.

Remove and re-install of VMWare Tools does not resolve this issue!

Sleep retains Desktop icon arrangement so this is a workaround but next time Windoze rrequires a restart I have to rearrange icons.

If there is a version of the WDDM driver that works properly I'd appreciate a link to instructions on how to get this working properly!

Thanks
