Windows 2000 Checked Build issues

Hello,

I'm talking about the Beta build 39849 of VMware Workstation.

Host OS: Windows Vista Business

Guest OS: Windows 2000 Professional (with checked kernel), you might call it "Checked Build".

I know that quite a few people are using VMware for device driver development. I'd like to inform you that this causes some issues with the latest Beta version of VMware Workstation runnung on Vista.

I have reported this as a bug, but the bug has been closed as "unsupported OS".

The main problem is: If you run Win2k with checked kernel as guest OS, the CPU usage on the host OS will be 100% all the time. It is virtually impossible to run a second guest OS at the same time, because the reaction time of that second system will be several seconds for actions as simple as a keystroke. The host OS is still fine an can be used without problems. The point is you cannot cross-check device drivers by running two VMs.

This is working fine with the current stable version of VMware Server with Windows XP as host OS. The problem is specific to the new Beta.

Best of luck to you,

Loto
