Windows 11 installation freezes

Hi.

First of all, I'd ask apologizes if I post this in a wrong place/forum.
I'm newbie here and I'm trying to understand the rules and procedures.

I'm still using Windows 7 and VMWare Workstation version 8.0.3 build-703057.
I'm trying to create a virtual machine for Windows 11.

Yes, I know, there is a very old system to host the latest one. But I need to do that.
Said so, this is my setup:

VMWare-setup_03.png

VMWare-setup_04.png

VMWare-setup_05.png

VMWare-setup_06.png

VMWare-setup_07.png

VMWare-setup_08.png

VMWare-setup_09.png

VMWare-setup_10.png

Installation process goes fine, copies all files and reboots the virtual machine.
Next step is to get ready the machine environment.
Windows 11 logo and a little animated circle are shown in the screen.
Until all process freezes at the point "Getting ready devices".

I'm not sure if I choose correctly I/O controller type SCSI LSI Logic, as recommended, and virtual disk type IDE.

What else could I do to avoid that freezen?
Any ideas?

Hi,

I think you don't have any other option as to change all.

I had the same problem in my virtualisation while I run ESXi 6.0 and needed to run some new VMs for connecting to Cloud and they run on ESXi 7 or newer, so I now build a new system on ESXi 8 to run it.

Hi,

how old is your HW? Have it the TPM 2.0?

While without TPM 2.0 the Win 11 will not work and this can be the reason and I thing also will be a problem too old Workstation version

This can't be emulated, this is needed to have if you will virtualise Win 11.

Thank you, Alfista_PS.

My HW is, in fact, very old, since 2016. And has no TPM.

But it's not the case, I guess.

Because I'd applied the Microsoft advises to bypass hardware check, tweaking Registry.

Hi,

I'm unsure with the HW bypass while Win 11 need it as necessary HW, but if it work then OK, but you have also the second problem and its too old Workstation application. You have version 8 and the latest is 17. There can by also problem with support for Win 11 and all needs for it.

Is posible to update the Workstation app to the latest?

Now, I'm totally agree with you.

My environment is too old, VMWare included.

If there is no other circumvent, I think I have to upgrade my VMWare tool.

I'll wait some other suggestion/opinion here to make a decision.

Thank you, Alfista, for your help.

I'm considering to upgrade my current version of VMWare Workstation.

ESXi is a level beyond my knowledge and needs.
