Windows 10 not able to join domain when disk are independent non persistent.

Vmware Workstation 16.2.1.18811642

Windows 10 not able to join domain when disk are "independent non-persistent".

When providing the correct user account and password the message appears that the system has joined the domain.

But after the reboot the system is returned to the previous state.

Using the same VM with the disk on "independent" or "independent persistent" and taken the same actions after the reboot I'm able to login with a domain account.

Isn't that the definition of a non-persistent disk?  Changes - any changes at all - are not saved.
