Windows 10 guest VM becomes unworkably slow atfer host Ubuntu 20.04 "unlocks" from lock screen

Hi,

I have a Windows 10 guest VM running using Workstation Pro 16.2.4 running under Ubuntu 20.04.  The VM generally performs well, but I have noticed if I lock my Linux machine, then at some future stage unlock the machine, the Windows VM is basically unworkable.  Everything in the VM runs extremely slow.  I have no choice but to reboot the machine (which takes forever to happen).

Is this a known issue and if so, is there config or a workaround?

Hi,

Anything at the host using a lot of CPU when this happens?
Like for example kcompactd?

I'll check next time it occurs, but I don't believe so, as my host computer works fine.

Yes so I can see kcompactd0 stuck at 100% for a very long time when restoring an image, which lead me to https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/458893/vmware-on-linux-host-causes-regular-freezes.  There seem to be a number of good suggestions there which I will try out.  Thanks for the tip.
