I am having an issue where the network connection between my
host and guest systems fails and the host network support completely fails to
the point where I have to reboot. Here is the scenario:
Host OS: Vista SP1
Guest OS: XP SP2
Nework Share: Vista SP1 (on host)
First of all the VMWare network drivers are not included in
WinPE 2.x so I had to obtain the drivers from the VMW Tools CD and inject them
into my WinPE 2.1 boot disk. Also this
issue does not exist using WinPE 2.0 with the same network drivers in VMWare or
using WinPE2.1 on physical hardware
(laptop/desktop).
When building a WinXP system I copy the i386 files from my
Vista SP1 share to the guest C-Drive and launch the XP install. During the i386 file copy the network
connection fails, the ability to connect to any of the Vista SP1 network shares
from any system fails and an error is generated in the event viewer “2017 -The
server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the server
reached the configured limit for nonpaged pool allocations.” The only way
to recover is to reboot the host.
So I am thinking that there is an issue with the VMWare
network drivers and if I am correct how do I go about getting updated network
drivers?
The reason I have to use WinPE 2.1 is that supports both
32-bit and 64-bit installs from the 32-bit WinPE front-end.
Any feedback would be appreciated!
Bump!
I'm in a similar situation only I am using ESX Server 3.0.2 update 1. no joy booting VM to WinPE 2.1.
thanks,
