WinNT no network function

Hi

I convertet a PC with Windows NT 4 SP6a to VMWare 6.5.3 - no problem - but running the machine I got no network connection. Shure VMWare Tools are on the machine.

If I try to ping I got the message that Destination Host is not reachable. It seams that the Network doesn't work. If I look to the Network settings then there is only the original Hardware NIC (3Com Card).

Is it possible to install a VMWare Nic to the VMWare-Machine? Which one do I need?

Normaly with other Operation systems there are VMWare Nic's running, but not so yet on the Win Nt machine.

Does anybody knows something about such a problem?

Thanks

Hi lilatracy,

I have found the following doc describing the steps to configure networking in Windows NT:

Tell me if this is any help! Smiley Happy

René

-edit- Are you saying no networking was possible with the 3com card back previously? Before you converted the machine?

Hi lilatracy,

Welcome to the forums!

When you converted the machine, it should've added the network card you were using.

If this isn't the case, you can edit your machine and add a new network adapter. It's best to use the Bridged network adapter.

Don't forget to click the "connected" function in the Virtual Machine properties Smiley Wink

If you installed VMware tools, it should automatically find the driver for this network adapter inside Windows NT.

Configuring the IP address is like you are used to in Windows.

Tell me if everything worked out.

René

Hi there!

I wasn't successfull.

First: there was the old network card installed on the convertet machine (it was a 3Com Card) with this installation it doesn't work. No ping was poosible

Second: I installed a new network adapter on VM, and drop out the 3Com Card.

Third: I want to install a new Card in WinNt but there is no VMWare Card-Driver

Where do I get a Network Card Driver for WinNt compatible with VMWare?

thanks
